It’s hard to believe it has already been four months. A great deal is happening across the organization, and I want to take a moment to share where we are and where we are headed.
As you know, I am committed to transitioning Arkay into a model provider organization—one that delivers cutting-edge, evidence-based services and supports individuals in making informed choices around vocational development, employment skills, and community integration, all leading toward sustainable independence.
This is an ambitious undertaking, and it will require all of us. I want you to know that I am fully committed to supporting our team throughout this process.
I am pleased to share that the Executive Team recently presented our new Strategic Plan to the Board, and it was approved in full.
I encourage everyone to review it on our newly updated website.
Here is what this means for you:
Compensation Increases:
A minimum 5–7% raise will be provided to over 95% of employees (only brand-new management and executive level employees (myself included) and a couple of employees who have already received a significant increase will not be receiving an increase). These increases will take effect June 1 and will be reflected in your June 18 paycheck.
New Database System:
We have signed a contract with PCE Systems to develop a new database that will significantly improve our operations. This system will impact all areas of our work—from documentation and billing to workflow efficiency. Development is expected to take 9–12 months.
Interim Documentation Tool (Stitches):
To support staff in the meantime, Jame Vierk has developed a program called Stitches, which has already been successfully implemented at Arkay Oakland. It will be rolled out to Crossings and Unity on May 18. Early results show documentation time reduced from approximately 15 minutes per note to under 5 minutes, which should meaningfully reduce administrative burden for job coaches.
PTO Policy Update:
Effective June 1, employees may carry over up to 200 hours of PTO past their anniversary date; however, total accrued PTO may not exceed 200 hours at any time. This change is intended to provide greater flexibility. Please remember to use your PTO—maintaining a healthy work-life balance is essential.
If you have questions, please email me directly.
Annual Appraisal and Raise Structure (Beginning 2027):
Supervisors will complete annual appraisals between January 1 and February 28. Raises will be performance-based and aligned with the approved budget for that fiscal year. All increases will take effect March 1 each year starting in 2027.
As we move into the spring and summer months, I encourage all of us to reflect on the work we do, how we do it, and the individuals we serve. Let’s continue to show kindness to ourselves, our colleagues, and our consumers. We never fully know what others may be experiencing, and a small act of kindness can have a significant impact.
Thank you for your continued dedication and commitment. The role each of you plays is essential to our mission and the people we serve.
