I am pleased to introduce Arkay’s Core Values. These values reflect who we are, what we believe, and the standards that should guide how we serve consumers, support families, work with one another, and represent Arkay in our communities.

Our mission is to empower individuals with intellectual and other disabilities to achieve sustainable independence through personalized support, meaningful employment opportunities, and active participation in their communities.

Our core values help put that mission into action every day.

Arkay’s Core Values are:

  • Fiscal Responsibility — We use our resources wisely so we can provide quality services today and remain strong for the future.

  • Dignity and Respect — We treat every person with kindness, fairness, patience, and professionalism.

  • Sustainable Independence — We help people build skills, confidence, and opportunities that support greater independence over time.

  • Community Driven — We create opportunities for consumers to be active, valued, and included members of their communities.

  • Choice — We support people in making informed choices about their own lives, goals, services, and activities.

  • Integrity and Accountability — We do the right thing, follow through on our responsibilities, speak up about concerns, and learn from mistakes.

These values are important because they provide a shared guide for our decisions and actions. They should be visible not only in major organizational decisions, but also in the everyday moments that shape a consumer’s experience at Arkay: how we speak to people, how we respond to concerns, how we document our work, how we use resources, how we support choice, and how we work together as a team.

Core values are not simply words for a website or poster. They are commitments we must live out consistently. They help us create a stronger workplace culture, maintain trust with consumers and families, make sound decisions, and stay focused on the purpose of our work. Clear core values also give staff a shared framework for behavior and decision-making across the organization.

Over the coming weeks, we will continue to talk about what these values look like in practice and how they apply to our programs, services, leadership, and daily work. I encourage each of you to take time to reflect on these values and consider how you can help bring them to life in your role.

Thank you for the care, commitment, and professionalism you bring to Arkay each day. Together, we can continue building an organization that reflects the best of who we are and the people we serve.
